school
Arrival/Dismissal:
School begins at 8:00am and ends at 2:50 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Every Wednesday is an early release day, school ends at 12:35. Teachers and Support staff provide supervision in the morning (beginning at 7:45) and in the afternoon. Children under the age of 7 are not permitted to walk home alone, this is a base policy.
 snack
Snack: Please send a snack each day. It should be healthy, relatively easy to open and eat, and clearly labeled and packaged separate from lunch.

 lunch
Lunch: Please be sure that your child knows his/her plan for lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I encourage you to use the online payment account if your child plans on buying lunch at school.  Each child has a lunch card, with an individual lunch number. We give these cards to the children each day before lunch to help them with their ordering. This is the link to the lunch account website www.MySchoolBucks.com
folder

Home/School Folders:  Your child's red school folder will be sent home each afternoon and should return to school with your child each day. Please be sure to check your child’s folder each day. Over the weekend, please go through the home/school folder with your child before returning it on Monday.
birthday
Birthdays:  In First Grade, we love to celebrate birthdays! We do out very best to make your child's birthday special. Their birthday will be announced during morning announcements. We sing a special song, provide each child with a pencil and birthday sticker. If your child's birthday is in the summer we will select a day in June to celebrate. Families are welcome to come in and read a book, make a craft or just spend some time with your child on their special day. Joining your child for lunch is always a special treat that the whole class enjoys! Please let me know in advance how you would like to celebrate. We ask that families avoid providing special snacks for the class to celebrate birthdays. Please see our school handbook for more information.
 handwashing
Germs and Health: Please remember that in school, we share everything… unfortunately that can include germs and bugs. We teach children to wash their hands often and thoroughly and appreciate that being encouraged at home.  If your child or household is dealing with a contagious illness or infestation, please notify our health office.
Please know that your family’s information will be kept confidential, while the health office will be able to take actions to prevent the spread of illness or infestation and keep our class healthy.  We appreciate your help in keeping everyone healthy, thank you!
Please visit the health office website to learn more about our school's health policies:

Ready for Specials: Please be sure your child has sneakers for gym days and library books for library days. See our special schedule to check the days.
